10th Anniversary Celebrations!

MoonShadow Stories celebrates a decade of storytelling

Date: 14 Aug 2013 – 1 Dec 2014

How time flies! It is now 10 years since Kamini and Verena met and revived the art of storytelling in Singapore with a targeted focus on adult audiences in order to re-introduce the beauty and wonder of stories to children.

Our journey started with public storytelling performances for adults held at The Substation from August 2003 onwards. Since 2005 MoonShadow Stories has consistently celebrated World Storytelling Day in Singapore and we are the first storytellers to organize and execute a storytelling marathon session in 2010.

Through the years, MoonShadow Stories has played a key role in raising awareness of storytelling as an art form through various forms of training for both children and adults. In particular, Verena's storytelling coaching "Beyond Storytelling 101" for intermediate level storytellers and Kamini's college level performance storytelling course "The Storytelling Intensive" have nurtured a new generation of storytellers in Singapore. The "BS101 Alumni Shows" have trained storytellers not only in the art of storytelling but also in aspects of production and event management, thereby sustaining a community of practicing storytellers.

Kamini and Verena have also helped to promote storytelling through organisational means. We are both founding members of the Storytelling Association (Singapore); after four terms as President of the SAS, Kamini continues to serve on the Executive Committee as Vice-President. In addition, Kamini is the Artistic Director of the Singapore International Storytelling Festival.

All the above would not have been possible without you! MoonShadow Stories would like to sincerely thank our fans, supporters and community of storytellers for believing in the power of story and for sharing this remarkable journey with us.
