One of Singapore’s founding fathers, former Deputy Prime Minister S. Rajaratnam may not have been as well-known as a published storyteller with a compelling voice and deftly created characters. You can now get a deeper insight into his creative writings, which place him firmly within the Malayan socio-cultural milieu with its urgent themes of self-determination and multi-racialism. With dramatised readings and a dialogue session hosted by writer Felix Cheong, this special showcase features Irene Ng, member of parliament and the editor of The Short Stories and Radio Plays of S Rajaratnam; academic and poet, Kirpal Singh; and storyteller Kamini Ramachandran from MoonShadow Stories. Our special guest for the evening is Trustee of S Rajaratnam, Professor Tommy Koh.
Kamini adapted and retold the story of ‘The Tiger’.
