MoonShadow Stories shares stories from the supernatural genre. Traditional Malay folk story figures like the bomoh (witch doctor), toyol (poltergeist) and orang minyak (a spirit being) will come alive on this night of All Hallows Eve ... We are not the first to walk this land. Before us were our ancestors and other beings, good and evil. And if you look hard enough, traces of them still exist today… MoonShadow Stories invites you to listen to four stories about how a piece of land somewhere in Singapore becomes cursed and how the curse reveals itself through the centuries. Tales of toyols, orang minyak, and ghosts. Tales of the dark, the unseen and the inexplicable. Tales of black magic, utter evil and pure terror. The story of Puteri Sa'adong is traditionally told through the mesmerizing and hypnotic Mak Yong dance form of Kelantan, Malaysia. She was a real queen documented in the annals of history. Like all legends that have stood the test of time, hers combines fact with poisoned finger nails, golden hairpins that cause death and a mysterious disappearance. This video shows Kamini sharing this story during Asian Stories at the Singapore International Storytelling Festival 2013.
