Stories Through The Mind’s Eye: Stories and Fables from the Lands of Asia
The Storytelling Intensive is an advanced level storytelling course conceptualized by Kamini Ramachandran for performing arts students at college level. Participants are trained in performance storytelling and complete their course with a public storytelling performance targeted at adult audiences.
MoonShadow Stories has celebrated World Storytelling Day in Singapore since 2005. This year Kamini Ramachandran performed a shadow puppet storytelling session based on traditional Sang Kancil (Mousedeer) folktales from the South-East Asian region. The performance was followed by a hands-on shadow puppet making workshop where participants not only made puppets, but also got to manipulate puppets behind the shadow screen.
Kamini Ramachandran was invited by The Fearless Initiative in March 2013 to share stories of strong women. The folktale of Bopoluchi comes from Punjab and is one of Kamini's signature stories since she first performed it in 2003 for MoonShadow Stories event Asia Pacific Folktales: Distressed Damsels Not Wanted. Ten years on, it is still a powerful story of women overcoming the impossible by using their charm, wit and resourcefulness.
