Notes for Organisers:

A room large enough to seat all participants at tables, in groups. Sufficient tables for displaying professional props and tools for demonstration and exposure to participants.

This customized workshop will expose participants to a wide variety of both professional and simple storytelling props and tools that can be used for both public performances and smaller scale storytelling in homes, libraries, classrooms and other situations. The workshop will demonstrate the correct use of these props and tools and participants will be guided to tell stories using these manipulatives. All props and tools will be provided by the facilitator. At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to handle and utilize the selected props and tools in their storytelling.

This workshop is customized according to the variety and number of props and tools the organizers would like incorporated into the workshop.

  • Story Boards or Kamishibai Japanese traditional storyboards

  • Traditional instruments: rain makers, thunder makers, shakers & rattles, drums, bells, cymbals, flute, mini-gamelan, selected traditional small musical instruments

About the Facilitator

Kamini Ramachandran has been instrumental in the revival of the art of storytelling in Singapore through her work in MoonShadow Stories which she co-founded in 2004. She is a founder member as well as the President of the Storytelling Association (Singapore) from 2008 – 2012. She brings a wealth of story-crafting expertise with her through her customized storytelling content creation and storytelling consultancy experience.
